First, my fabric is Tula Pink Lotus in Amethyst from the Eden collection. I’ve been holding on to this since the fabric line was released for the right project. Those tigers hold my heart.
This skirt has a fitted yoke and options for a lightly or fully gathered skirt-I did the lightly gathered. There are pockets. I have a tiger butt coming out of one pocket and a tiger head coming out of the other. I used an invisible zipper, but a cool exposed one would be cute too.
Because the tigers is a pretty busy fabric, it’s difficult to see the details of the yoke. The bottom right pic in the collage above is a close up of the front. It is a pieced V-shaped yoke. It’s a very cute design and would totally stand out more with a solid or subdued fabric choice.
Sewaholic patterns are made for a pear shaped body. Since I’m a rectangle, I have to narrow out the hips. My bust and waist are always size 8 and my hips are 0 with all of their patterns. I did a muslin of just the yoke (in size 8) and it seemed pretty perfect. I did cut several inches off the shortest length of the skirt. I think this skirt is supposed to sit at your natural waist. Mine sits lower per personal preference. Because of this, I cut several inches off the shortest cut line so that it would be above the knee.
You can easily tuck a shirt in and would adorbs with stockings during the winter months.
I wore the skirt out today and was pretty sure everyone in the pharmacy was staring at me. That could have been for several various reasons, but we will say it was the skirt.
