I recently downloaded Hey June’s Racerback dress for FREE, nonetheless! It’s a girl’s beginner knit dress pattern and comes in sizes 1-8 (chest 20′ to 27″). Hey June also has several other free patterns too. I just downloaded all of them to make right now. Like right now, right now.
Time: 1.5 hours
Seam Allowance: 3/8″
Materials: 1 yard of 55″+ wide knit fabric. You need at least a 30% stretch. If you want the neck and arm bands with a contrasting fabric, that will cost you only 1/4 yard.
There are only 5 pattern pieces for the dress. I love quick and easy clothes for my girls. They ruin clothes faster than you can say Oxyclean, so I don’t particularly like to make super nice things for them outside of super special occasions.
Pattern sizes are layered in Adobe, meaning you can select which size you want to print and you will only see that size on your printed pages. Super cool feature.
This fabric is a medium to slightly heavy knit I found on the Joann Red Tag that was marked an extra 50% off. I think it was $2 or $3 per yard. Perfect weight for these kinds of dresses. I don’t like my girls wearing thinner knits where the bodice or dress isn’t lined.
It would also be adorable to flare the bottom of the dress out a bit to make it flowy. Or a different fabric for each piece-color block style-would be super cool too!
