Swoon Sewing Patterns just released JULIE, the second bag in the Vintage Collection. The Swoon Vintage Collection is the new subscription.  You receive one bag pattern a month from March 2015 to March 2016.  If you purchase in the middle of the year, you will automatically receive all the patterns released in the subscription so far then one per month as they are release.  For only $38.95.  It’s really a great deal.  The patterns are a surprise, but I can guarantee that you will want all of these patterns.

Enough about that, back to Julie. She is a 60’s inspired handbag with two exterior slip pockets and interior zipper pocket.  What makes her extra unique is the circular handles.

I Love this bag!  What is the deal with the vinyl tubing handles?

It’s more simple than you’d imagine.  Stop by Lowes or Home Depot.  In the plumbing area, you will find hallow vinyl tubing that you can cut by the foot.  There will be many widths to choose.  You want 40″ of 3/8″ and 2″ of 1/4″ tubing.  This stuff is literally pennies per foot.  Get a lot!
To make the handles, you construct the fabric covering, put the 1/4″ tubing into one end of the 3/8″ tubing by a wee-bit, slide the tubing though the handle cover, then connect the tubing to make a circle.  The small tubing is there to connect the ends.  Voila!  So easy!

What are the other details of this bag?
The front pockets are basic pleats.  The bottom/sides is an angled gusset that diminishes before the top of the bag. She has so much character!

I’m sold!  Where can I purchase?
Right HERE!

When I went out side to take pictures, Madeleine comes out and says “Mommy, is this my bag?”  I guess so my child.
The exterior fabric is Tina Givens Royal Parrot in Olive. The interior is a pink and white polka dot fabric I picked up in the LA fashion district. I can’t wait to be back in SoCal so I can score more $5/yd fabrics!
