Here is Camille Camera bag!  She is the 3rd pattern in the Swoon Vintage Collection.  As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, the Vintage Collection is like bag a month club.  You receive at least 12 patterns from April 2015 to March 2016 for only $38.95.  It is an amazing deal!
You can also buy Camille individually here!

Camille is 12.5″ wide, 8″ tall, and 5″ deep.  She has a carrying handle as well as an adjustable shoulder strap.  The flap is buckled but you could get creative with a turn lock, swivel clips, magnetic snaps, etc

The interior has a large slip pocket, two padded lens compartments and a large main compartment for the camera body.  The entire bag is heavily padded with foam interfacing to protect your prized equipment.

The exterior also has a large slip pocket for whatever you need to access quickly.

Difficulty: 4 out of 5.  I won’t pretend Camille is an ‘easy’ bag but I wouldn’t say it’s really all that complicated either.  There are a lot of pieces and it’s time consuming.  If you have made Swoon Stella or the Eloise wallet, this is definitely easier than those!  There was no particular place that I struggled sewing.  The flap takes a time and I wasn’t quite sure how the bag was all coming together at first (I never read ahead in my patterns).  So the best advice I can give for this bag is “trust the pattern”.  Don’t make any assumptions or skip steps, or jump around.  Seriously, just follow the pattern step by step!  and have snacks on hand.  Lots of tasty snacks.

Time: 6-8 hours. I think that’s a pretty good estimate. However, I keep track of my time by how many “after bedtime sewing nights” it took me, so there is a lot of room for error in that hour range.

2/3 yard Exterior fabric
1.5 yard lining fabric
2 yards fusible woven interfacing (Pellon SF101)
0.5 yard foam interfacing (Soft and Stable) OR 1.5 yards of Pellon Flex-Foam
0.25 yard fusible stabilizer (Pellon Peltex 71F)
0.5 yard fusible fleece interfacing (Pellon Thermolam TP971F)
Two 1″ buckles
Two 6″ x 3/4″ wood craft sticks, optional but highly recommended**
Two 1.5″ rectangle rings
One 1.5″ strap slide
One magnetic snap
Fabric glue or glue stick

You can buy the buckles from StrapWorks.

**WOOD CRAFT STICK?? Say what?  The craft sicks are fused into the top of the flap in between the handle.  This keeps the flap from buckling with the weight.  This is optional, but I do highly recommend them.  You can also use 4 Popsicle sticks or I actually used the basic 4.5″ long craft sticks I had on hand for kid activities or even tongue depressors if you have access to those!

exterior-Blend Turkish Delight
interior-I don’t have any selvage left but I *think* it’s Michael Miller or Moda
straps and handle:  Essex linen

I have owned my camera for almost 6 years and have never had a dedicated, safe place to keep it.  I am beyond happy to finally have a home for my Nikon.  I’m not a great photographer, but I do enjoy taking picture (mostly of myself!)

and…just because I like taking selfies.

How much do you love Camille?
